Wasted Time

God woke me with this thought last night, "Are you wasting your days?" I lay there in the dark for awhile letting the words wash over me like clear water over stones. When Woke this morning God was still asking me the same question. I turned in my bible to Psalm 90. We often read this Psalm at funerals especially verses 1-10. But God drew me to verse 12, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."

I thought about this, then I thought some more. I had to do some deep searching of myself. After much praying and crying and blowing my nose. I came away with this:

1) We waste our day on trivial things that don't really amount to a hill of beans. How many opportunities have we missed to be a witness because we were bogged down with pettiness from with and pressure to preform from within?

2) We waste our time trying to change people. Only God can change the heart of men. It does not matter how much energy you spend on some folks if God don't touch their hearts you are wasting your days.

The text says, "So Teach." That tells me that to apply my days in the will of God is not naturally in me. But the Holy Spirit will teach us how to apply our hearts to wisdom if we let Him.

This week our church has been celebration two years with us being pastor and people and I have to ask myself how many days have I wasted. It is my prayer for you that you treasure each breath, each waking moment, each hour of every day and not waste them.

Let's Pray: "Father in heaven we come now to ask your forgiveness for squandered moments, hours, days and years. We acknowledge we have wasted our time on the pettiness of this world. God We as you now in the name of Jesus to teach us how to apply our days for the living out of our lives that we may bring glory to your name, Amen!"
